In most situations, the RPL's collective experience and procedures will determine the best way for a part to be printed for great quality and strength. Still, in some instances customers need more granular control of the print properties or Slicer settings.

Examples of these situations include:

  • A part or set of parts that are being printed for the Materials Lab final project.
  • A part or set of parts that have a very specific purpose.
  • A part or set of parts requested by someone with extensive 3D printing knowledge.
  • Any other situation in which specific characteristics are required.

In these situations it is critical that the requester details the intended use case for the parts, the specific properties they require, and explains how they believe the parts should be printed to achieve those properties. It can also be helpful to come in and talk with an RPL technician before submitting a ticket to discuss your idea.
