Quality and resolution loss may occur when converting from from a solid file to a STL surface model file. Because of this, the RPL requests that you send us your project file instead. We will tesselate and convert the model for you.

If you need to submit an STL for any reason please ensure that the model is "water tight" and exported at the maximum resolution available. Also, if submitting a SolidWorks or CATIA file(s) as an STL please reference this article: SolidWorks / CATIA STL resolution fix.

The only exception to the rule is Autodesk. Save your project as a high quality STL.

The RPL accepts the following file types; if you need to submit any other type of file, please contact a technician first

  •  CATIA 2020 files
    • .CATPart
    • .CATProduct
  • SolidWorks 2020 files
    • .SLDPRT
    • .SLDASM
  • STEP files
    • .stp
    • .step

The RPL discourages the following file types

  • STL files
  • OBJ files
  • AMF files

    • .3mf

The RPL currently does not accept the following file types under any circumstances
