Due to x and y resolution being much greater than Z resolution, if a print has a relatively small change in height over a long distance in x and y, “stair stepping” can occur. Figure 1: Stair Stepping and Figure 2: Stair Stepping Wing demonstrate this phenomenon.

RPL technicians will orient your part in a way that will minimize this from happening, it is important to realize this fact. Please note that airfoils will ALWAYS be placed vertically to prevent inconsistencies in your airfoil.
